The best WhatsApp tool for a sales team depends on where its leads talk. The free WhatsApp Business app suits one shared number. WATI, AiSensy and Interakt suit chatbots and broadcasts on WhatsApp's Cloud API, TimelinesAI suits CRM-first teams, and WavesFlo, Periskope and DoubleTick suit teams working many numbers and groups; WavesFlo also has a chatbot and AI replies on Growth and Enterprise.
Below, nine tools are compared on who each suits, how it connects your numbers, what it costs and whether it handles groups. Every price and trial was checked on the vendor's own site on 5 October 2026, as listed there, and several add GST or other taxes on top; prices change, so check again before you buy. WavesFlo is our product, and its row says plainly what it doesn't do.
The nine tools at a glance

Where does each tool win?
- WhatsApp Business app: cost and simplicity. Labels, quick replies, greeting and away messages and a catalogue, free. It suits a team that can share one number; several people on one number explains the options and where they run out.
- WavesFlo: sales spread across many numbers and groups. Every linked number's chats and groups sit in one list, chats are handed on by hand or round-robin within a team, roles limit who sees what, and campaigns go out from a Google Sheet to lists or groups. A chatbot and AI replies are set per team on Growth and Enterprise, and it is not a CRM; the FAQ covers the pricing and setup questions.
- Periskope: support and sales inside groups. Tickets, an automation rules engine, an AI agent and sync with HubSpot, Freshdesk and Zoho Desk; cost follows users as well as phones. WavesFlo vs Periskope compares the two.
- WATI: one-to-one selling with chatbots and AI agents. Pro, at ₹6,499 a month billed monthly, adds sales pipeline management and a HubSpot integration; groups are limited to small ones WATI creates. WATI compared.
- AiSensy: the lowest entry price. A free plan with a shared inbox, and Basic with one owner and five agent logins; chatbots and AI agents are paid add-ons, and groups don't appear. AiSensy compared.
- Interakt: D2C selling. A WhatsApp store and payments, with the catalogue synced from Shopify, WooCommerce or Excel, plus a Sales CRM add-on with pipelines and automatic lead assignment. It comes from Jio Haptik. Interakt compared.
- DoubleTick: sales teams on the move. Android and iOS apps, chats, calls and groups across numbers in one inbox, and a CRM embed with two-way sync. DoubleTick compared.
- TimelinesAI: CRM-centred teams. Conversations sync to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce, Zoho, monday.com and more, and the Pro plan, at $49 a seat, can hide customers' numbers from non-admins. TimelinesAI compared.
- respond.io: several channels at once. One inbox for WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, with AI agents and broadcasts from the Growth plan at $159 a month.
Does the tool take your number off the phone?
This question splits the list. Tools built on WhatsApp's Cloud API register your number with Meta through the provider, and WhatsApp's per-message charges apply. Unless the provider supports Meta's co-existence feature, the number leaves the WhatsApp app. Under co-existence the app keeps working, but Meta's documentation says group chats are not synchronised and the app's linked devices are unlinked during onboarding. Cloud API groups exist, but only for businesses with the badge Meta reserves for notable brands, and each holds at most 8 participants.
Tools that link a number by QR code from Linked devices, as WavesFlo does, leave the phone and its groups as they are. Each link uses one of the four linked-device places WhatsApp allows, and the phone has to be opened at least once every 14 days. One catch applies to every tool that links this way: as of October 2026, a chat where someone has turned on WhatsApp's Restricted chat, either person in a one-to-one chat or a group's admins, can't be used on linked devices, so it stays on the phone.
How do WhatsApp sales tools charge?
- Per user or seat: Periskope from $25 a user a month plus phones, TimelinesAI $35 a seat a month with each number taking a seat, and respond.io from $79 a month for 5 users.
- Per plan plus per message: WATI, AiSensy and Interakt add WhatsApp's per-message charges. AiSensy lists ₹1.09 per marketing message to Indian users from 1 October 2026.
- Per plan, billed yearly: DoubleTick from ₹3,000 a month.
- Per session, team member and number: WavesFlo Growth at ₹2,999 per session a month with one team member and one number included, ₹499 a month per extra team member and ₹999 a month per extra number.
A five-person team on three numbers pays very differently under each model, so price the set-up you will actually run, with your real message volume, rather than the headline figure.
Where WavesFlo fits, and where it doesn't
WavesFlo is a shared inbox and campaign tool for WhatsApp numbers linked from phones, up to 250 connected numbers on Growth and up to 50,000 on Enterprise, subject to plan. Every linked number's direct chats and groups arrive in one list, each marked with the number it came in on, and replies go out on that number. A chat is handed to a teammate by hand or round-robin within a team, or left in the shared queue; Admin, Manager, Team leader, Agent and Viewer roles decide who sees what; and a live typing indicator stops two reps answering the same customer. Internal notes, labels and slash-shortcut quick replies are shared across the team.
What it does and doesn't do matters as much. On Growth and Enterprise, each team chooses automatic answers from keyword replies, a chatbot and AI replies, AI drafts for someone to check, or neither, with AI credits included and more on request; round-robin assignment is on the same plans. It is not a CRM, though it connects natively to HubSpot and Zoho CRM: once an admin switches syncing on, one-to-one chats and opt-outs are logged as notes on the matching contact, and group messages never are. Salesforce, Google Sheets and other tools are reached through webhooks, n8n or Power Automate. Threads start when a number is linked, with no earlier history. Plans and prices are on the pricing page.
How should a sales team choose?
- Where do your leads talk: one-to-one chats only, or groups as well?
- Must each number stay on a rep's phone, or can it move to the Cloud API?
- Should replies be automated, or answered by people?
- Which CRM must hold the record, and does the tool sync to it or push through n8n or Power Automate?
- How will the bill grow with users, numbers and messages over a year?
