A franchise network wants two things that pull apart: the franchisor wants consistent messaging and visibility, and each franchisee wants to run their own customers. The tooling can give both through a number per outlet, access by outlet, approved campaigns and reports by number. What it cannot settle is who owns the customer relationship, which your agreements must.

What should you agree before you set anything up?

  • Who owns each number and each customer's contact details, and what happens to them if a franchisee leaves.
  • Whether the franchisor may read franchisee chats, and if so, which roles and why.
  • Who is responsible for consent and opt-outs on each outlet's list.
  • Who pays for the tool, and how that is split.

How do brand campaigns work?

An optional approval step means the franchisor signs a campaign off before the first message leaves, and each outlet's number carries its own daily and hourly ceiling and its own cooldown per person. A large list starts with about 5% and pauses itself on failures or STOP replies, so a bad list does not reach every outlet's customers.

What can the franchisor see?

Reports by number: delivery and read counts from receipts, send volume, and anything held back by a sending limit with the rule that caught it. Access follows the roles, so what each person sees is set, not assumed. The audit trail records who changed roles, number access, campaigns and settings, and when.

What does the first quarter look like?

  1. Month 1: agree ownership, access and responsibility for consent in the franchise agreement.
  2. Month 2: pilot with one area and a handful of outlets; set roles and number access.
  3. Month 3: roll out by area, with approval on brand campaigns and a review of the audit trail.

What are the usual mistakes?

  • Setting up the tool before the agreement.
  • Giving the franchisor read access without telling franchisees.
  • Treating one list as the network's list when each outlet collected its own consent.

Once the agreement is written down, WavesFlo can give each franchisee their own outlet numbers and set the franchisor's view across them by role and number, with the audit trail showing who changed what. WavesFlo for businesses with many numbers sets out how outlets, regions and head office fit together.

Questions

Can a franchisor run WhatsApp for all its outlets?

Yes, with a number per outlet, roles and access set per number, and an optional approval before campaigns go out.

Can franchisees see each other's chats?

No, if access is set per number: an outlet's staff see only the chats assigned to them.

Who owns the customer relationship?

That is for your franchise agreements to settle. The tool records who changed what, but it does not decide ownership.

What happens if a franchisee leaves?

Decide it in the agreement first. In the tool, a number's chats stay with the business when a person leaves, and access can be removed.
