In a shared inbox every conversation has one named owner, a colleague typing in the thread shows live, and each assignment records what decided it. Together they answer three questions managers ask: who has this customer, is anyone replying right now, and why did it go to them. The WhatsApp Business app can show which agent or device sent a message only with multi-agent, and only after it has gone.
| Question | WavesFlo | WhatsApp Business app |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns this chat? | The conversation shows its owner; filter by Assigned to you for your own | With multi-agent, the chat's assignment |
| Is someone replying now? | A live typing indicator on the thread | Not shown before sending |
| Who sent this message? | Within the inbox, the conversation record; per-agent figures in the reports | With multi-agent, press and hold a message and tap Info |
| Why did it go to them? | Each assignment records what decided it; a supervisor can read the log | Not recorded |
| What do we know about this customer? | Notes and labels stay on the conversation | Labels only |
What one rule prevents double replies?
The assigned person replies, and anyone else with something to add writes an internal note. Ownership prevents most double replies; the rest happen before anyone owns a chat, or when a manager steps in, and the typing indicator catches those.
What does the assignment log show?
- Whether a returning customer went back to their last owner.
- Whether someone was skipped for being off shift or over their cap.
- Whether a person, not a rule, handed the chat on.
Read it when a chat lands somewhere surprising. It usually shows the rule working as set, and the fix is the setting, not the person.
Each conversation in WavesFlo has one named owner, and the assignment log explains how it got there, which settles who answers before two people type at once. The shared inbox shows that owner on every chat from every number.
