A number that has dropped off sends nothing and receives nothing, and the first person to notice is usually a customer. WavesFlo sends account events for exactly that: account.connected, account.disconnected, account.qr_required and account.send_blocked. Written to a sheet, they show which numbers drop most often and for how long. Sent to Slack or Microsoft Teams, they tell someone now.
| Event | Fires when | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| account.connected | A number finishes linking and can send | Nothing; log the time it came back |
| account.disconnected | A number drops off, within minutes of a missed heartbeat | Check the phone: charged, online and WhatsApp open |
| account.qr_required | A number needs re-linking before it can send again | Scan the code again from the phone's Linked devices screen |
| account.send_blocked | A send is refused by the safety gate, per recipient | Read the reason and whether waiting can help |
What do you calculate from it?
- Time offline: the gap between a disconnect and the next connect for the same number.
- Drops per number per month, to find the phone or the site that keeps losing its link.
- Blocked sends by reason, to see whether limits or quiet hours are the cause.
A frequent cause is the phone itself. The main phone must open WhatsApp at least every 14 days or every linked device is logged out, and a phone that is off, offline or asleep for long cuts the link; WhatsApp Web keeps logging out lists the other causes.
Who should be told?
A log is for review; an alert is for action. Number alerts can be posted to Slack or Microsoft Teams, so the person holding the phone hears the same minute. Name one person per number as its keeper, and write their name in the Numbers tab beside the id.
In WavesFlo each number keeps its own connection and limits, so a disconnect on one leaves the others sending while you are told which needs attention. WavesFlo for large businesses covers running many numbers this way.
