WavesFlo sends four group events for the groups your connected numbers belong to: group.participant_joined, group.participant_left, group.settings_changed and group.membership_request. Written to a sheet, they give admins a membership timeline and a record of who changed a group's name, description or admin-only settings.

Group events and the columns to keep
EventFires whenFields to keep
group.participant_joinedSomeone joins a group a connected number is inGroup id and name, participant, event type, time
group.participant_leftSomeone leaves or is removedThe same shape as the join
group.settings_changedSubject, description or admin-only settings changeGroup id and name, which fields changed, new values
group.membership_requestSomeone asks to join a group with approval onGroup, requester, and how the request came

What does an admin learn from it?

  • A daily net change per group, which shows a post that drove people out the next day.
  • Who left straight after joining, which usually means the group was not what they expected.
  • A queue of join requests, if approval is on, so none waits a week.
  • When a description or rule was changed, and what it was changed to.

A daily net change is one formula once the log has a Day column: join rows minus leave rows per day, with COUNTIFS on the event type. WavesFlo's own group analytics rebuild joins and leaves into a daily timeline too, so use the sheet where you want it beside other data.

What should you be careful with?

  • A member list is personal data. Keep the participant column to what you need and share the sheet with named people.
  • Only groups a connected number is in appear. A group your number left no longer sends events.
  • A group holds at most 1,024 members, so a group near the limit will show a rush of joins and leaves.

Groups a connected number belongs to also appear in the WavesFlo shared inbox beside direct chats, so the people who answer members see the same groups the sheet tracks.
