WavesFlo sends four campaign events: campaign.started, campaign.completed, campaign.failed and campaign.approval_required. Each can write a row to a Campaigns tab, so a manager sees what is running, what finished, what stopped and what is waiting on a decision, without opening the dashboard. The events carry counts, not recipients.
| Event | Fires when | Fields to keep |
|---|---|---|
| campaign.approval_required | A campaign waits on a human decision | Campaign id and kind, approver, messages pending, request time |
| campaign.started | A campaign begins sending, including after an approval | Campaign id and kind, what triggered it, the approver, start time |
| campaign.completed | A campaign finishes its queue | Campaign id and name, sent, failed and deferred counts, total, completion time |
| campaign.failed | A campaign stops without completing | Campaign id and name, and the reason |
How do you keep one row per campaign?
Use the campaign id as the match column in the Google Sheets node, with Append or Update Row. The approval row is created first, then the same row is updated when the campaign starts, then again when it completes or fails. The sheet then reads like a status board.
What can you calculate?
| Figure | Formula, with J = sent, K = failed, L = deferred |
|---|---|
| Failure rate | =K2/(J2+K2+L2) |
| Share still deferred | =L2/(J2+K2+L2) |
| Waiting for approval | =COUNTIF(Status,"approval required") |
These are counts of messages handed over, not of messages read. Delivery and read figures come from receipts, and read counts are a floor because people can turn read receipts off; campaign metrics that hold up explains what each can prove.
Should this go to a sheet or to chat?
Approval requests, campaign results and number alerts can also be posted to Slack or Microsoft Teams, which suits anything someone must act on today. Use the sheet for the record and the chat channel for the nudge.
Each campaign's own results stay in WavesFlo either way, with delivery and read rates counted per campaign, so the sheet is a copy rather than the source. Announcements, approvals and canary sends are explained on the features page.
